TAI ER at The Exchange TRX is the Malaysian outpost of a Sichuan restaurant chain that originated in Guangzhou in 2015 and has since expanded to over 520 branches across China. Located at Lot C.40 on the Concourse Level of The Exchange TRX, the restaurant specialises in Suancai and Fish, a signature Sichuan dish combining sour pickled vegetables with tender fish in a spicy, aromatic broth. It opens daily from 10am to 10pm.
The menu centres on the eponymous Suancai Fish, available in both spicy and non-spicy versions, served in portions suitable for two to three diners at approximately RM108. Complementary dishes include stir-fried green beans with pork, Szechuan mouth-watering chicken, and various Sichuan staples. A notable feature is the complimentary self-service tea station offering roselle and dried tangerine peel infusions with unlimited refills. Free tissues are also provided at each table.
The Exchange TRX is Kuala Lumpur's newest international financial district mall, and TAI ER benefits from the premium, modern surroundings. Diners can book via Google's partner Inline app, though walk-ins are accepted when tables are available. Prices are on the higher side for a chain restaurant, with the average bill for two reaching approximately RM130 after tax. The restaurant is halal-certified and offers free phone charging at tables.
