The whale statue in KLCC Park is a surprisingly striking piece of public art that catches your eye the moment you wander into the lake area. Officially titled “Whale and Dolphins”, this stainless-steel sculpture—created in 1997 by Australian artist John Underwood—stands around 6 meters tall, featuring a humpback whale accompanied by leaping dolphins . It’s set in the park’s central pond, just a stone’s throw from the Petronas Twin Towers, and reflects in the water for lovely photo opportunities—especially on calm, sunny days . Why it matters: KLCC Park was designed by famed Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx, and this sculpture aligns perfectly with the park’s intention to blend art, nature, and urban spaces into a serene oasis . To-make-the-visit-better tip: If you’re here with kids or want to cool off, walk over to the nearby children’s pool/paddling area—perfect for hot days and just steps from the whale sculpture .

An interesting silver whale statue flying up out of the lake.
